It takes a special team to rise up when called upon and win championships. That's Just what Coach Cicerchia's Westwood4 team did this week and last night to win the 2022 NCBR title. Let's start from the beginning......
Monday night the 4th place team beat Coach Sullivan's Westwood2 in the Play In game behind a 7 inning beauty from Jack Ende on the mound. Tuesday as the visitors, they drew Coach Dumais' Westwood3 team, the number 1 seed. Under heavy odds, Westwood4 needed 8 innings as the visiting team to take them out 2-0. Again, they got awesome pitching from Bryce Levesque and Danny Gentile who combined to spin the shutout, advancing the team to the Championship game last night against Coach Cap's Westwood1 team who got there by beating Coach Willits' Westwood5 team 6-2 in the semi finals.

After a Danny Gentile walk, Westwood4 jumped out quickly in the top of the 1st with a double from Jack Ende and a single from Bryce Levesque for a 2-0 lead. Westwood1 would get 1 back in the bottom of the 2nd with back to back singles from Jack Farricy and Ben Sicular. Gentile yielded the mound in the 3rd to Jack Holland who proceeded to shut down Cap's formidable bats for 4 innings. Adding 2 more to their lead in the 4th, Westwood4 drew 2 walks and then scored them with a single by Harry Hayes and a double by Liam Guadagno to go up 4-1. But could the magic continue?

The 5th and 6th were scoreless as both teams made the plays. Westwood 1 made it 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th on a single by Matty Preti and another by Max Boehl. Jack Holland bore down and got Jack Mullins to ground out to end the game and crown Coach Cicerchia's team the winners. What a great way to end a great week for the Westwood Babe Ruth program.
