June 8th saw our spring season come to conclusion with a great game between 2 formidable teams on TMS. Right from the start, Coach Willits Westwood5 bats were hot. The ol' saying, "Hit 'em where they ain't" was working for them. To match the intesity, Coach Donahue's Westwood3 had Reid Levesque pitching a no-hitter through 4 innings with 4 strikeouts. Dylan Lewendon was close to matching Reid with 4 innings of 1 hit ball for the Big Red Machine. The baseball was good, as the boys from both teams were making the plays. Just after Westwood3 extended their lead to 3-0, Westwood5 woke up with a few big hits from James Fahey and Vincent Willits and put 6 runs on the board to take a 6-3 lead going into the 6th. From that point on, Westwood5 matched Westwood3 play for play. On the final pitch, a long fly ball to center field was swallowed up by the glove of David Kosberg for the win for Westwood5. A great and exciting night for baseball in Westwood.
We want to thank all the players for another hugely successful season for our program. We also want to thank all of the coaches who provided instruction and guidance to the developing players. We could not have done this without you. Lastly, we thank all the parents for the priviledge of coaching your players, and for providing the large crouds at each game this week.
That wraps this chapter of Westwood Babe Ruth. Next up, get ready for summer action! Westwood will be fielding age based teams in the Metro South Baseball League, which will start at the end of June.
