Spring Training

Where: 5Tool Performance, 110-120 Stergis Way, Dedham, MA. (Close to Legacy Place)

When: Saturdays in March (3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25)

            Group 1: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Birthdate September 1, 2010 thru August 31, 2011 = 11

Birthdate September 1, 2011 thru August 31, 2012 = 12

Players will receive instruction on fundamentals in pitching and catching.  Catchers should bring their gear if they have it. Instruction will be led by Westwood High School Baseball staff and players.  These workouts will help players prepare for their upcoming spring season and emphasize fundamentals that all successful baseball players need at the next level.  Many of the drills in these workouts are used by the WHS Baseball Program throughout their season.

Players should bring their glove, bat, and helmet.   Masks are not required.

Registration for any 10 year olds that wish to try out for the Majors Division. 

The registration is free of cost and the date will be announced soon. WLL needs to get an accurate head count of children that are interested in moving up a division.

There are limited spots available in the Majors but we welcome anyone for a tryout!

All 12 & 11 year olds will be participating in the Majors/Minors evaluation and do not need to register.

Babe Ruth is for all players 13-15 years old who want to play with their friends, have fun and continue to learn and develop their baseball skills on a full sized diamond.

Teams play a 16 game schedule weekdays and weekends hosting and traveling to neighboring towns for a more challenging experience.

Qualified and experienced coaches are always needed.

Minors will consist of 11 & 10 year olds with evaluations and selections for 9 year olds who wish to try out. 9 year-olds that do not get selected for Minors will be placed in the International Division.  Games typically begin in mid-April and run through mid-June.  Most games are played at Sheehan School fields and are held Monday - Friday 5:45pm start times and on weekends. Some games played at Morrison Park will have a different start time.

Majors will consist of 12 & 11 year olds with evaluations and selections for 10 year olds who wish to try out. 10 year-olds that do not get selected for the Majors will be placed in the Minors.  Games typically begin in mid-April and run through mid-June. All games are played at Morrison Field and are held Monday - Friday 5:30pm and 7:00pm start times and on weekends.

The Instructional Division is our 1st & 2nd Graders.    

The kids play games, but 100% of the focus is on player development.  Games typically begin in late April and run through mid-June.  All games are held Monday - Friday at 5:45pm and some games on weekends.

In Grades: 1 to 2 for 2022-23 School year

The introduction to Little League baseball in Westwood. This division is comprised exclusively of children currently enrolled in kindergarten. We strictly enforce this policy regardless of how talented a pre-K player may be. The player MUST be in kindergarten.

Composed of both boys and girls, the entire focus is development.  Teams rotate through skills stations followed by a relay race around the bases for weeks 1-3. Games start in week 4 and typically last 2-3 inning players bat one through the order and switch sides. 

Baseball begins in late-April and run through early to mid June. All K Ball games take place on the School Street fields and are held on Wednesdays.

IMPORTANT OPEN POSITIONS:

 - K Ball Coordinator (no prior baseball experience needed)

 - Head and Assistant Coaches (parent volunteers are crucial to the success of the program!)
